Week 10- the final week!

During the course I learned a lot of things - created my first Blog, Delicious, Rubrics and Interactive Power Point Presentations, Padlet. I got to know about different web search engines,  learned how to create quizzes and exercises using different programs and sites like Hot potatoes and Easy test Maker. These tools I appreciated most and started to use in my daily work. I and my students became regular listeners to English Podcasts. I added a great number of webpages with resources to my Delicious page I would to explore.
Moreover, I appreciated the rare opportunity for me to communicate in English and take part in Nicenet. I enjoyed reading wonderful posts of my coursemates and learned a lot from them. For me it was a wonderful experience.
Thanks a lot to Donna and all course colleagues, it was nice to work together! After completing this course I am going to continue my professional development and hope to keep in touch with our course colleagues!
Greetings, Rita

Week 9

One week left. I feel relieved and a little bit sad. It took me rather much time to explore the course material and fulfill the tasks in time. At the same time I feel very happy as I learned a lot. As as teacher  I improved a lot.

This week I read how technology can help provide a range of learning styles in the classroom. The article I appreciated most http://www.nclrc.org/sailing/.  As always I enjoyed reading other course participants` posts on Nicenet and blogs.  Using Carlo`s comments which helped me a lot, I improved my draft and wrote the final version of my project report.

I completed a survey and got to know about eTeacher site and I`ll definitely join it in the nearest future.

Greetings, Rita

Week 8

This week was very busy week. I shared my draft  by posting it on my project raport with my partner Carlos on my page on the course wiki. I was given some feedback from Carlos, which I appreciate a lot.

I read Iryna`s draft project and gave her some feedback.

After exploring some of the suggested technology tools, I created a Padlet Site to share the jokes in English http://padlet.com/wall/iipovmbdmx. The purpose - in a funny way to improve English language skills. I found this technology tool very useful and easy to use. I hope to promote learner autonomy by encouraging students to search, read and post jokes on Padlet.

I am looking forward to next week!

Week 7

Just like every week , this has been a busy week for me. I read articles about using one computer and mobile devices in class. It was interesting to read colleagues` posts on Nicenet.

I got to know about the Padlet and I found this tool useful and an easy to use. I posted a website link about One computer clasroom to our class Padlet.  Our course colleagues shared a lot of  interesting information on the wall! I don`t forget to add some useful links to my Delicious page.

I started to implement the technology tool  with my students- to use Podcasts. For students it`s very interesting that the story continues in the next episode and at the end of each episode they can hear a joke. They love it! I gave the students worksheets with various tasks such as Choose all the sentences that are true according to the podcast or Put the words in order to make sentencesfrom the podcast. I need to differentiate  the  tasks as not all students are of  the same level.

I haven`t found a partner for my final project yet, but I hope I will.

I am looking forward to next week!

Week 6

After I read the articles I got to know a lot of useful information about creating Interactive Power Point Presentations. I created a short and simple one Interactive Power Point using four elements: blank slide, hypertext, animation, think-pair-share. I really enjoyed other course participants` Power Point Presentations. I hope to learn to create my JEOPARDY in the near future.

Small is Beautiful. So I decided to Practise students` English  listening skills with Elementary Podcasts http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts. I never used Podcasts in my classroom before as I was poorly equipped with technology aids. I found this technology tool extremely useful for my students. I made it a little bit easier – before listening students were given a list of new words and questions they have to answer while listening. I am going to continue to implement new technologies in my daily work.

Week 5

I enjoyed reading about articles PBL, webquest and alternative assessment.  These tools lead students to become more autonomous learners and improve their motivation learn.
I created the rubric on making poster for my students of pre-intermediate level, http://rubistar.4teachers.org/ . I found it easy but extremely useful.

As my students have a rare opportunity to listen to authentic material, so I decided to use Podcasts for developing listening skills.  This will be the technolgy tool that I will  put into place to solve the problem.

It takes me much time to explore all the technology tools,  some of them I just go through and add my favourites to my Delicious page.

During  these 5 weeks I learned a lot and I am very happy!

Week 4

This week was very intensive for me. I read some articles on using interactive web for teaching reading and writing: "Using the Internet for ESL writing instructions" by Jarek Krajka and "Using Internet -based children`s literature to teach EFL" by Larry Mikulecky.
I wrote a technology-enhanced lesson plan for class 6c where students are going to create comics about respectful behavior in the virtual social space. We are going to take part in Comic strip competition on Safer Internet Day 11 February.
To describe the problem/issue was quite easy for me as I know that my students have listening problems, so I would like to focus on listening skills using authentic materials from various websites.
I added some useful links to my Delicious page.
I am looking forward to next week!
